SMACNA-BC March 2022 Membership Meeting
Please join us in welcoming back Stephanie Pritchard of Camden Consulting, the Project Evaluator for SMITB’s Union Training and Innovation Program (UTIP), a federally funded cost sharing initiative designed to strengthen union-based apprenticeship training, innovation, and enhanced partnerships.
The UTIP objective is to improve the quality of training in the trades to better support a skilled, inclusive, certified, and productive trades workforce. It also aims to increase representation of key groups (women, Indigenous people and newcomers to Canada) in the trades by building strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders.
Stephanie will provide an update on the Technology and an Inclusive Workforce UTIP project activities to date, including highlights with project partners such as Skill Plan, Skill Ready, BC Building Trades, PICS, etc. Members will also hear about future-plans for project activities including Fan Service Specialty Training, MEWP-VR simulator certification when the new training facility opens later this year.
She will share key findings from the UTIP Women in Sheet Metal Advisory Committee and the recently hosted annual Sheet Metal Workers Focus Group. Members will also be invited to participate in the annual Contractor’s Focus Group on Wednesday, March 30th.
The meeting will include a Sheet Metal Industry Training Board (SMITB) and Training Centre update from Jud Martell, SMITB Training Coordinator, followed by a question-and-answer period.
Sorry, No Drop-In's, Pre-Registration Required.
Proof of Vaccination Required
We will comply with the British Columbia Provincial Health Orders (PHO) issued by our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry. As the Provincial Health Order regarding meetings and events is currently in a state of fluctuation, Outlines are the current restrictions that are in place and any policies that need to be followed. Please note that the British Columbia Provincial Health Orders are subject to change without notice. Any revisions or amended British Columbia Provincial Health Orders must be complied with immediately from the date the order is signed and published. If there are any changes that may impact the event, it will be communicated as soon as possible.
Current PHO Orders – Full Order can be found here: covid-19-pho-order-gatherings-events.pdf (gov.bc.ca)
PROOF OF VACCINATION:
By order of a Provincial Health Order (PHO), full proof of vaccination (two doses) will now be required to access some events (except for those less than 12 years old). All participants must be fully vaccinated. If your attendees are from BC, they will need to show proof of vaccination using the BC Vaccine Card.
Further details can be found here: Proof of vaccination - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca).
As defined under the Events & Gatherings Order, the ‘Organizer’ is responsible for checking for proof of vaccination of all participants. The venue must ensure the organizer has the capacity to fulfill this requirement.
