SMACNA-BC January 2020 Membership Meeting
On January 23rd, for our first SMACNA-BC Chapter meeting of the new year, we will be touring the new Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering (SE3P) Building at the SFU Surrey campus. This event will be a joint meeting with our industry partners and friends from ASHRAE BC. The new SFU SE3P Building has created a unique environmentally friendly building with many engineering highlights.
Kevin Shea and his team from AME Group will give a presentation of design challenges for this 173,000 Sq. Ft. building that is purpose built for a multi-disciplinary approach to energy engineering education and to support the renewable and sustainable energy sectors. When fully operational, the SFU SE3P building will have over 500 students. This is already an award-winning project having recently won 4 Gold awards at the 2019 VRCA Awards of Excellence ceremony. The SE3P building is also targeting LEED Gold certification. The Design Labs have dedicated HVAC/Plumbing systems focussing on energy efficiency. After the presentation we will break into groups and tour through the various unique design features of this project.
Please note that the meeting is a Stand-Up Reception with Hors d’oeuvres, and not a sit-down dinner.
Please also note parking available nearby and the SE3P Building is only 1 block from Surrey Central Skytrain.
